Blackland Blackbird

Excellent customer service and an excellent razor from Blackland. When my order was lost in the mail, Shane sent out a new one immediately.

I am enjoying my polished Blackbird with the SB. It does give a close shave and I think my technique has been improved by its use. Before I ordered I read the reviews and comments by Matsilainen which were helpful. Honestly, this is the most expensive razor I have purchased and I wanted to get a handle on how to use it. I need not have worried; its use is intuitive for me. No nicks, no razor burn, just a nice close shave from a razor with a beautiful design.

Shane is excellent to deal with, and the Blackbird is still the top shaver in my Den. None of my other Razors can give me as smooth and efficient a shave as the Blackbird. I’m not into airplanes, but I love the design of this Razor. Before using it I was doubtful of the Handle and how it would feel in hand, but after using it it’s become one of my favorites. It provides excellent grip, and doesn’t get slippery when wet. I wish the Blackbird was offered in 316 Stainless, as I believe it’s a little harder than 303 Stainless. I would also love to own a Blackbird in Polished Bronze or even Brass, as I would love to see them develop a Patina. A Polished Blackbird SB is on my short list.

I’m working now on the first of a few premium finishes for the Blackbird that I hinted about a few months back. Should be ready in the next month or two. I’m also looking into alternative materials for the Blackbird. What finish would you guys prefer on a brass/bronze Blackbird?

I think polished bronze/brass would please the greatest number. You can polish it and keep it nice or let that sweet patina form over time!
