Just did a quick two pass Shave Off early this morning using my 1st Gen OC and my Charcoal Goods Level 3 OC as I thought it’s a razor a lot of members can relate to. I wanted to use my WR1. 94 DC as I really wanted to revisit the Shave Off I did months ago but it is out on lend to a member. So I Loaded both with new hand strop Feather blades as I wanted to get the max efficiency out these two and Feathers are also my favorite blades.
I split my face into 4 section as I normally do when I’m doing a Shave Off to keep things fair as my right side of my face and neck are a lot more difficult to shave as I have a real bad a** nasty cowlick and some weird beard growth on my lower jawline and also on my neck. The whole left side is about as normal and predictable as it could be. So the old saying about us being made in halves certainly fits my face & Neck. So both razors get one of the 4 sections on my right side and one on the left to make things fair.
Anyway I did both a WTG and XTG pass and I find that when I’m using my CG L 3 I tend to ride the open comb for the best results and for me it makes the razor much smoother than using a steep angle as far as face feel goes and I usually ride the top cap with the Tradere and it becomes a really smooth shaver for a razor as efficient as it is. For those that don’t know me I do a lot of skin stretching so I’m pretty much shaving a smooth landscape all the time which on it's own smoothes out the shave for me. Don’t get me wrong both have a decent amount of blade feel . The blade feel diminishes about 25% on the 2nd pass both razors but more noticeable with the Tradere which has the lesser blade feel of the two. So both gave me a solid BBS shave but after doing a quick cotton test after rinsing and drying my face the cotton told me the Tradere got me what I refer to as a level 2 BBS and the CG a level 1 that’s also been confirmed now that it’s been 8 hrs since I’ve shaved.
Also I had a little feedback from the Alum stick which is very unusual for me no matter what razors I use but I have to attribute it to the So Cal Hipster Shave Soap as it just didn’t have the residual slickness that I’m used to when using my top tier soaps and the CG was taking all the latter with it with each stroke. I bought the soap & AS cause I liked the scent but I think I’ll use it with less efficient razors from now on.
Anyway based on the Shave Offs I did before I’m gonna say that I’m thinking at this point I’m agreeing with what most members on here have said in regards to how the Tradere 1st Gen OC compares to the Wolfman WR1 94 DC and WR2 1.25 OC as I’ve found both Wolfman razors to be bit more efficient than a CG L3. At least for me they are. I’ll confirm that once my 2 Wolfies are back home again. Just guessing but I think my 1.35 Titanium WR2 will be a bit more efficient than the Tradere and again I’ll confirm that moving forward.
