Curious if you can comment on how the Tradere shaves compared to the Blackbird right now Shane? No problem if you can't atm, but would be interested to know when possible.

I can only compare OC to OC as far as BB vs Tradere as I have an original 1st Gen OC. First off they both have their own unique “ feel in hand “ to them in regards to Weight & balance and not related at all in the way they shave as far as angle used in my experience using both razors. The OC 1sr Gen to me is more efficient than the OC BB. Some would use the term aggressive when describing the 1st Gen but I fine the Tradere very smooth once dialed in. I find the Tradere as far as efficiency to be about as efficient as my .94 DC WR1 and yet again the feel in hand of each razor is completely different. I’m not sure I gave you the info you were looking for. Both awesome razors in their own right but hard to compare to each other IMHO.

I had the 2nd Gen but got talked into selling it a few years ago and I’ve regretted it ever since so I’ll be replacing that when the new ones come out.

Love the high polished look!

Do you remember how they compare in regards to blade feel/exposure?

I had the gen 1 OC and the gen 2 SB. The OC had plenty blade feel, the SB very little. I ended up selling both not long ago when Shane announced his bringing them back. I used the $ for other obscure objects of desire.  Smile

Aside from the fact that I’ll be selling both, the Tradere and Blackbird really have nothing in common and probably aren’t two razors that are easily comparable. The Blackbird has its weird shallow angle, high exposure, and small gap combination. The Tradere is more traditional like a very good “normal” razor. Dart, Timleless, ATT, etc are probably better candidates for apples-to-apples comparisons.

Obviously I'm not Shane, but I have owned and shaved with an original Tradere safety bar razor and with a Blackland Blackbird.  I agree with Shane to a certain extent; the razors are fundamentally different.

Having said that, I would say that the Tradere is a fair bit heavier, has a heavier head for sure.  The balance is a bit different, higher up on the Tradere than on the Blackbird.  Blade feel is more pronounced on the Blackbird, as you would expect.  Efficiency for me was very similar between the two.  Feel on the face was completely different; the Tradere very smooth and the Blackbird more blade-forward, but the results were pretty similar.  I never got much irritation with either of these razors.

That photo that Shane posted certainly makes the new Tradere look AMAZING.  I'm sure that its performance will match its looks.  I haven't used a DE since August, and I'm not really leaning toward going back to DEs, but this razor makes me second-guess.  I will have to decide whether I want to spend the money on a razor that is a type of razor I don't really use.  (On the other hand, I have a boatload of DEs sitting in a drawer at my house; I could easily pay for a new Tradere by selling my other DEs.)

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, a boatload of straight razors I no longer use. Maybe we should get together on that.  Smile

Is the Tradere coming after the vectors are finished? Is there an ETA on when the Vectors will be shipped? Will either razors be ready before the holidays?
