I wanted to post this just to gauge interest with a small group like the one found here prior to asking elsewhere. There is a festival the 23-26th of September in Fayetteville, Arkansas called Bikes, Blues, and BBQ.  It's exactly what it says it is. Motorcycles, Live Music, and awesome food. More info can be found here http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/.  The proceeds of the event go to charity, and I think they had between 300 and 400,000 attendees last year.  It's more family friendly than you would expect (read: it's not a Sturgis-type rally).

So what does this have to do with wet shaving? Well, with meetups becoming more commonplace these days, I and a couple of other folks have been discussing the possibility of doing a meetup that would coincide with a day or two of the BBB festival.  We would have activities involving wetshaving planned, but also time for people to just go out and about and see the other stuff, eat some BBQ, listen to some tunes, or just do whatever they please. We'd planned on having some shirts made up for the meetup if we do go through with it, and also provide custom strops branded with the attendee's name for each person that comes ( I don't use a straight, but I have an awesome strop branded with my and Mandy's names along with Stirling Soap Co hanging in our workshop.  It's just a neat thing to have).  We're also discussing other ideas, and we're open to any and all suggestions.

Basically, I know that this is likely more for people in the few hours driving range from Fayetteville, but the input I need from the board is if you lived in the area, does it sound like something you would like to do, or would you prefer that wetshaving meetups stay wetshaving focused, without any outside distractions. Even if you don't live in the area, hypothetically, what would your thoughts be?

I'm going to be up there anyway, but I'd appreciate any input from the fine folks here in the small but growing group at DFS prior to us further exploring the topic of setting up something for the wetshaving community.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The original idea we had for the meetup name and t-shirts was "Bikes, Blues, BBQ, and Blades," but to avoid copyright infringement we've moved on from that.

If I was in the area, I'd surely go. I find the interest most of us have in the details of hardware and software, vintage equipment, etc. translates well into a lot of other areas. So even if someone wasn't into motorcycles, the chance is high that they'd have the capacity to appreciate them. And despite their intimidating presence, I found most of them to be very nice, average guys. They're just like us, only focused on bikes.

It'd be a cool venue as an aside. I hope it works out for you.

Sounds like a good idea, heck I'm only 20 mins from your shop in Booneville. One of these days hopefully we can get enough in our area for a meetup. Me and the wife always go to the War eagle craft fair in October, that's another time to consider for a meetup and other things to do while at the Hill.

We'll probably be up at War Eagle this year as well, although just for fun, not as a vendor....

Heck, you're close enough to just drive by the house here and say hello!
