Bic Soleil Cartridges vs. Bic Chrome Platinum: Are The Blades The Same?

     I picked up some Bic Soleil Click 4 razors for my GF because she likes them. I looked to see where they were made and I was happy to see it says Greece. would it be the same as The Bic CP DE blades. Would the Soleil razors use the same blades or is the manufacture of cartridge blades different? If they are different, would they use the same machine to manufacture them or would it be a whole different machine? Plus, I'm guessing it would obviously require some other facets of manufacture to produce the cartridge. 

BIC razors and blades are made in Greece. The BIC Chrome Platinum blades are some of the sharpest DE blades. I have used the BIC Flex blades and find them to be similar in sharpness to the DE blades. However, disposable razors are made on different machinery than DE blades, so it is not appropriate to say they are the same blades.

I have not tried the Soleil blades so I have no idea how they compare to the Flex blades. Since they are designed to be used by women, they might sacrifice sharpness to improve comfort.

I suspected they might be different machinery. I am going to try one myself, then maybe do a shave with the Soleil and a BCP to compare. They work well for her and the shave was definitely smooth, close, and comfortable. And I grabbed them at $1.08 per cart as we know that is cheap for a cart.

Definitely a much different shave than a DE. I forgot how different the face feel is with the larger cartridge and multiple blades. The shave I must say was smooth and comfortable, really no issues. Not a bad feel, just different. It will definitely not replace my DE razors but it gets the job done at a good price for a cart. I had no post shave issues or irritation. The shave was close and I got BBS in 3 passes, but I would venture to guess the blades are perhaps not quite as high on the sharpness scale as the Bic CP's. I got BBS, but it only lasted a few hours. Much less than other razors. Perhaps with 4 blades, they don't need to be as sharp as a single DE blade.

Bic Soleil are made for women and most women's razors have a blade gap set for a more mild shave. Regardless, the Bic Chrome Platinum and the Astor are the same blade with the latter made for in country (Greece) sales. I doubt they use any different blade formula for their disposables or Gillette for that matter.
