Thanks much TSEvangelist for this detailed comparison! It seems that they are essentially equal, so I imagine the best approach would be to purchase one based on the style preference. I think I'll go for the straight bar over the open comb, as they usually feel slightly more smooth for me, at least for daily shaving.

Definitely. For me it's 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other. Go with the style you prefer unless you plan on getting James to customize the blade gap or blade exposure.

Haha, thanks. One thing I can tell you, synthetics will spoil you in terms of ease of lathering. I'm having to load much heavier and work a bit harder to get a decent lather with my boars. I'm not exactly sure why that is but it's definitely requires a bit more loading and work with natural. I wish I knew the science behind it but I do not
