I thought that it was (or ought to be) a staple in everyone's repertoire.  I'm not going to make any comparisons to the Barrister's Reserve because I haven't got any of that yet but I will say this, in my opinion the only similarity between Floid Blue and Aqua Velva is that they are both blue.  I think the Floid is a nicer shade of blue however.

I used to hate shaving. So I didn't even bother with aftershave. It's like I stubbornly made myself even more miserable than I needed to be. I washed my hands of cologne for a long time, too. In fact, I still don't use it. But I do enjoy shaving now. And I've begun to enjoy aftershaves a lot, too. But I have to catch up with all the scents I missed while I was making myself miserable. I never got to try Floid Blue, or any Floid for that matter. There's a lot wrong in this world that I need to correct now that I've woken from my slumber, and chasing down the perfect shave is first on my list of things to make right. After that anything should be possible.
That's why I need to collect some samples. If anyone has suggestions for my aftershave safari, please let me know, wherever appropriate - I don't want to clog up Will's bountiful and educational thread here. (Hallows is already on order, and I have Lavanille and Cologne Russe, both of which I hope to never be without.)
The only thing blue I've tried is some Nautica cologne from years ago, which I did like at the time. Does anyone remember that? No idea what I'd think of it now.

If you're using Barrister and Mann soaps and aftershaves / kyovus then you are definitely heading in a very good direction. Â I was lucky enough to find Barrister and Mann early on in my wet shaving journey. Â It has become the standard by which I measure all others. Â Of the many I've tried, a handful come close but none surpass Barrister and Mann. Â Thats my opinion for what its worth.
I do feel pretty lucky that I stumbled upon my Barrister and Mann stuff before spending a boat-load of money elsewhere. Not that I'm not still curious to broaden my understanding of what's out there. But I'm happy I have some really solid, pleasing, and inspired scents to form the core of my collection early on. Even if I didn't find much else I liked, I'd still feel like I could be really happy with what I have. But enjoying stuff like Lavanille and Cologne Russe has actually awoken my curiosity for scents, their histories, and what they can evoke. It's so much more interesting for me now than my past practice of hurriedly grabbing for some generic bottle to spray myself with as I run out the door. I suppose that might actually be the best compliment I can give. Â

Ha, glad I'm not the only one here.
Just looked it up: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Nauti...-2479.html
Apparently they've since reformulated it for the worse. Why does this always seem to happen? I do wish I had some of the original left, just for nostalgic purposes.
In any case, it's described as a woody chypre. With top notes of aldehydes and lime. And jasmine (among others) as a floral middle - that part at least sounds about right from my faded memory. I've always loved the scent of jasmine, but I'm not sure I would have recognized it as such back when I used to wear this. Also, I'm not sure what aldehydes are supposed to smell like - what is the scent of the "oxidation of alcohols?"
Barrister_N_Mann Sitting here watching The Tribe play Kansas City and was wondering if you had any plans to make "Diamond" ever again? That was one soap I meant to get, but just never got around to purchasing. Thanks!

Probably not, but I can't say for certain. We discontinued it because sales were mediocre and people kept sending us emails asking us to make it smell like urine and hot dogs. But maybe?

Urine and hot dogs?!? -- that would be the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium!

You would know best, but the landscape is different now.
Iâ€m going to have to say the same about Night Music. I had the pleasure of smelling Night Music for the first time last week (from of a friendâ€s bottle of the aftershave), and all I can say is for the love of wonderful scents, Barrister_N_Mann, please bring it back some day! I am absolutely certain it would sell well. What happens when anyone posts Night Music on a BST (which is a rare occasion, indeed)? It is gone in a matter of minutes.
I know people have asked for this one before. I now add my voice to theirs.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

We're actually planning to bring Night Music back as a pre-order LE next Valentine's Day.
