Funny, I get no real smoke scent from it. The B&M description is spot on IMO:

Unusually straightforward for a Barrister and Mann scent, First Snow is a simple, modern leather, overlaid with the crisply resinous character of Siberian fir oil and garnished with just the lightest kiss of menthol. Originally premised on the idea of a "gentleman's menthol," First Snow is the smell of splitting wood outside a forest cabin, your leather jacket and gloves protecting you from the elements and from any flying debris, the mountain air cool on your face.

I get smoke off First Snow. I like it.

I picked up a Ubrique set from Top of The Chain recently and I have to say on initial sniff I was unsure about the scent. I put it aside and then sniffed it every now and then as I passed by for a couple of weeks. With time and a little encouragement from a friend, I eventually got to the point where I thought I could shave with it. This happens occasionally where it takes me some time to warm up to a new/different, out there (for me) scent and quite often I do eventually get to the point where I like the scent. Sometimes a lot. This happens more often with Barrister and Mann soap probably because Will isn’t afraid to push the envelope scent wise. I respect that. You’re never going to hit it out of the park if you’re afraid to leave the dugout and Will has hit many out of the park. So Ubrique? A Smokey Spanish leather that I’m still getting my nose around. I think I’m going to like it. For now I’m getting the Corsican from Princess Bride.  It’s evolving. I’m hoping it rises to Inigo Montoya level  Big Grin

Thank you for posting this Mark.  I say that mainly because I'm having the same reaction to Ubrique, but have yet to take the plunge, and also because the Princess Bride rocks.  Happy2  Happy2  Finally and FWIW, I most often gratefully appreciate Will's scents, but once in a while they miss the mark for me too.

Yeah The Princess Bride is great.

That’s what’s so great about Barrister Mann, Will isn’t afraid to take risks. There will be hits and misses. I want things that challenge me and occasionally push me outside of my comfort zone. I don’t want one more nice smelling “barbershop “ scent that smells like a hundred other nice barbershop scents. Obviously BM has some nice, not too out there scents too but they don’t all smell the same like some brands. And he’s got a very nice, reasonably tame Bay Rum. Smile  There’s an idea! A one off, crazy out there bay rum to act as a counterpoint to the main line bay rum. One that would piss off half the guys and frighten all of the women. I think I’d like that. Sorry, my brain is constantly looking for an angle on how I can work bay rum into this situation. I can’t help it.

I actually tinkered with that idea during the pandemic, but ended up setting it aside. Perhaps I'll revisit it at some point in the future. Smile

I think that would be awesome. Really awesome.
