I didn’t get one this trip, I can say in general the barbershops were nothing alike.  There needed up being 7 within a block from my hotel.

I have received shaves in Italy before.  I saw a lot of Proraso green big bottles with an atomizer on them (like this) https://proraso-usa.com/products/aftersh...ional-size

I am also embarrassed. I thought I had a generally course bead being from Italian descent. These guys grow professional stubble. I’m not in their league.

Are you Sicilian? My wife's uncle has a dark, persistent 5 o'clock shadow, lol.

The Japanese petrol station reference was more addressing surprising levels of service abroad unfamiliar to most Yanks.

There is an entire team that descends upon a vehicle as it enters a Japanese petrol station, each with a different job and all incredibly polite, clean and efficient. Really resembles a F1 pitstop in professionalism.
I’m in Canada and we have much worse service than what you get in the USA. Service ranges from resentful to non-existent. If you’re lucky you get indifferent service. Like they say, the service may be poor, but it’s really expensive.

If a Japanese petrol station crew descended on a driver here a heart attack would ensue.

I’ve always been curious what the barbershop experience is like in Italy.

Heard bit’s so I kind of had an idea. But the pictures are a nice addition.

Did anyone of the places you went too really stand out?  Or were they all very similar?

What kind of aftershaves did they use?

I think it’s around $30-$40 to get a shave around here at one of the barbershops. I think there is a barber school that may charge less.

For $10 euros I’d definitely be getting a shave while I’m there.

How much do you tip them?
A couple of things about Italy.  They like a small tip but don’t expect one.  I would tip him 2 Euros but the Italian customers pay the straight 10 Euros.

I will likely go back in a month or two, I will grow out 2-3 days and let them shave it.

When you go back. I hope you can take some more pictures and post them on this thread.

If I ever get the chance to visit Europe. Italy would be at the top of my list.

I’d definitely have to get an Italian barbershop shave experience while I’m there.

Italy is a special place, if I make it back soon I will post pics.

It is almost certain I won’t be in that area of Milano again.  Usually I’m closer to Lake Como for work in a small village.  It’s even a better experience there, a bit more authentic.

As an Italian, what you wrote is a pleasure, thank you!
