Same here. I had a tub of Hot Barrel Rose pass through my hands on the way to another shaver. The end recipient told me to take a healthy sample out. I declined after getting a good whiff of the soap. It smelled exactly like burnt rubber. I am sure it performs well, but good lawd, the smell...

Ballenclaugh Soaps is no longer maintaining a website for their products, and now sells whatever is in stock directly through their Facebook page.

After using the excellent Vanderpool soap for a couple of recent shaves, I’m happy to see that there is more soap (The Woodsman) to be expected from Ballenclaugh in the coming days.

This is a shame. I deleted my Facebook account over two years ago and don't intend on using Facebook in any meaningful way. I was looking at their Hot Barrel Rose for a minute and The Woodsman sounds like a great scent as well. Zero interest in dealing with a Facebook only vendor however. I wish them the best.

The only reason I’m still on Facebook is that I have some friends and acquaintances whom I can only reach through that medium. I massively dislike the platform, and find it a bit curious that when most small business owners tend to move from social media to creating their own website, Ballenclaugh Soaps has chosen to go the opposite direction.

In the stream of mostly negative news that my Facebook feed presents to me on a daily basis, looking forward to news about The Woodsman is one of the few positive things I await when entering the service.

(This turned into something of a rant. Sorry about that.)

I believe the reason for this is cost. He had his website up with no activity and only 1 soap in stock. I actually bought one and he was surprised anyone visited his site anymore.

He could use Etsy but I don't think Etsy gives notifications for items in stock.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

I’m sure you’re right (the cost). Plenty of former customers probably didn’t even realize that there was still a soap in stock. And Etsy would of course require adapting to that environment, so since he was already on Facebook, that was probably the easiest path to take.

If I may, did you get Honey Tobacco, or was there still something else in stock at the time you ordered?

I got the Honey Tobacco as it was the only thing in stock. I'm going to keep an eye out for any other releases I think The Woodsman is coming out soon.

That one sounds nice. Out of stock now. The more I use Vanderpool, the more I’m absolutely thrilled with it, so I’m also looking forward to The Woodsman.

Sorry to hear this. International shipping restrictions are always a source of disappointment.
