First try with the Drakkant this morning. What’s not to like? Covered blade tabs is always a great start. With a very intuitive angle it was easy to just start shaving.
The weight feels just right for a SS, and what a cool handle. Easy to grip is an understatement.

This one is more on the mild side to me, and was a really nice first shave. A sharper blade was suggested, but I decided to start with my baseline – Gillette Silver Blue.
Really glad to be able to try this razor. I look forward to using it for the week. Nice job AylsworthRazors!

My time with the Drakkant has come and gone, and it's now on its way to the next participant.

First impressions of the razor were stellar build quality with tight tolerances. There is barely any wiggle room between any parts of the razor and the handle screws on smoothly. I didn't see any issues with the finish of the razor, and was what I expected from a bead blasted finish. The look is very industrial but fits the razor well. The handle is hefty and grippy with a unique design.

First shave I went with a new Gillette platinum. The blade loaded easily, and when all tightened together the exposure looked pretty neutral. First shave I used Ethos Succes and had a great slick lather. The razor took down three days growth pretty easily. The razor is super smooth with barely any blade feel. With that said it is definately on the mild side and has a narrow window where is cuts efficiently. Anywhere outside of that angle still cuts, just not as closely. After two passes I had a comfortable shave that was a notch below a DFS.

Second shave was with the same gillette platinum on it's second use. I shaved off one days growth and used FLS kituwah as the soap. Very smooth shave with the same finish, a notch below DFS. Very comfortable but not as close as I usually get. I always do a two pass shave, WTG then XTG, never ATG.

Third shave I decided to follow after a previous tester and use two shims. I've never felt the need to shim a razor before, but was curious how the Drakkant would perform with a slightly larger gap. I used the now third use gillette platinum. The razor was more efficient and surprisingly did not show an increase in blade feel. I was able to achieve a DFS with this shave.

Fourth shave I used a new feather and no shims, as I figured a sharp blade would fair well in this razor. Soap was ZM "The Watchman". This was the best shave by far. Partially because I was used to the razor and the cutting angle, and mostly because of the sharp blade. The razor effortlessly and comfortable removed 3 days growth from my face. Very little blade feel and I never was in fear of cutting myself. Finished with a DFS. The alum showed no feedback and I had a smooth shave for the majority of the day.

The razor showed great promise as a mild shaver. I think with the more aggressive plate options Kaleb has in the works, this will be a crowd pleaser. The only real complaint I had was difficulty getting under the nose with the neutral exposure. Besides that, the razor looks, feels, and shaves great. I highly reccomend all testers use a feather blade, it completely changed how the razor performed. Thanks to Kaleb and Andrew for setting up the passaround, it was a blast!

Had a really wonderful head shave this morning with AylsworthRazors Drakkant prototype. Took a little more buffing than my usual open comb Karve CB setup, but overall was effortless and the nicely balanced, weighted Drakkant did all the work. Once again, especially on my head the angle was intuitive and not a single glitch or scratch was had. Great smells, great head shave. Great way to start the day. Really enjoying this razor.

Tomorrow I will follow what others have been saying and throw in a feather blade to see how that goes (with 2 days face growth). Happy Saturday shavers!

A good afternoon shave to mow down 2 days of growth. Proraso sandalwood is a really nice smelling sandalwood. Slickness is great too. This razor is mild but very effective and comfortable. I do not love feather blades, but wanted to try. Damn fine shave for a Sunday afternoon. Peace

Getting easy and very nice shaves with the AylsworthRazors Drakkant. Will be sad to let it go towards the end of the week.

Another great head shave this morning with the AylsworthRazors Drakkant. Granted, I did not have many days growth but honestly all I needed was a 1 pass shave with touch ups for an amazingly smooth dome. I am loving this razor. For a couple more days, at least.
