Aylsworth Drakkant DE Razor, DFS pass around

OK, I don't get out much but Brandon Shaves video hydrating with a mister bottle while applying lather to the face?  Who knew?  I'll put that one right up there with bringing a reclining lawn chair into the bathroom to recline on with a hot towel on your face before shaving.  While I'm not dragging a lawn chair into the bathroom, I might try the mister trick.  Has anyone else tried it?  I can see it helping if you under hydrated the lather and didn't realize it until you'd applied but to use all the time?  Not sure if it would make a difference to a properly prepared soap.  Maybe the water could be scented?  Additional layer of complexity or muddying the existing scent?

I remember seeing the 1st time one was used and then EVERYONE on youtube started using them. I'm a holdout and don't even use the spray bottle I have. If needed I think I can still pump the trigger myself

I use the mister to add water to the lather bowl.  Sometimes will spray the head before a head shave.  Never tried Brandon style.  Perhaps he has a theory . . . .

My third and last shave with the Drakkant razor.  I noticed increased efficiency with the shimmed Feather blade, perhaps a slightly wider angle (perhaps), but no greater blade feel.  I like this razor, and will probably buy it if/when it goes into production.  The prototype has some rough edges that need smoothing out, and I don't like the decorative channel on the topcap, but it shaves very well and that's what's important.  I will mail it out tomorrow to the next participant.  Best of luck Kaleb, with this project.

Thank you for the thorough reviews and feedback!  It will most certainly go into production (in fact it already is!) and the razors are set to release in May of this year.  I am also prototyping a heavy and open comb heavy plate that I'm hoping to release by the end of the summer or early fall.

I think those heavy plate options will compliment well with thicker handle options, that will definitely give it a high end feel like some of the other artisan razors.

I saw that posted several years ago and figured it was the ultimate.  I think he used a microwave to heat the towel.  No way my wife would let me do that. I don’t say anything about her spin bike in the living room though. I guess I’m just more relaxed about that stuff.

Package has arrived safe and sound. Razor looks attractive and well built. The soap included has a really nice scent and I look forward to trying the soap in one of the shaves. For now and for the first shave, I’m going with something I’m familiar with and is one of my preferred soap makers, Colonia from the DFS/Ethos collaboration. I’ll try to get in a shave with each of the blades in the pics with the Feather the first to go. Initial shave thoughts to follow….
