There is a new razor brand coming to market. Their first offering is the Eagle.

Ross Lee is the owner. You may not know the name, but you know his work. He is the machinist for and helped design the original Paradigm DEs that have obtained an almost cult like following.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to spend some time with the Eagle prototype. It sports a .8mm blade gap and slightly positive exposure. The handle has a slight taper that really feels good in the hand. For me, I found the Eagle to deliver an 8-10 hour BBS, perfect for daily shaving. Blade feel was slight but consistent with my naturally steep angle. It is quite a smooth shaver.

I believe the first Eagle will be in matte Ti and serialized. There are to be 100. Bullgoose will get 50 and 50 will be sold on the yet to be designed Ascender website.

I had a great time playing with the Eagle and intend to be first in line when they hit the market in mid February to early March. Price is $385.

I loved the SS and look forward getting my hands on the titanium version. If the Eagle is indicative of what we can expect from Ascender Razors, the community is about to get an infusion of some much needed new blood, from a familiar but until now, behind the scenes designer/manufacturer.

Hopefully, Ross will join DFS and answer any questions you guys may have.

Thanks for the review - looks like an absolute beauty and should be right up my alley as a daily shaver.  Looking forward to the launch …..

Looks very similar to the Paradigm. Can you give some thoughts on how it is similar/dissimilar to that razor? Thank you.

It's been a while since using the Pdigms. I got the new Yates Ti when it launched in late '24. Too mild and not enough blade feel for my tastes. I need to know where the blade is at all times. I lose it, I try to find it, and that's not good for my face. So, more blade feel, more efficient than the Yates Diamondback.

I had the same issue with the 17-4. Great razor, just too mild and no blade feel. I could get a decent BBS, but with far too many strokes and it didn't last long.

I had the Ti1 for a very brief time. The original one with only 50 or so made. It had blade feel and efficient enough, just not smooth on my face. The Eagle has slightly less blade feel, slightly less efficient, but smoothness getting close to the 17-4 or the newest Yates Ti release.

Those 3 are the only Pdigms I had any experience with. Two were essentially gone as soon as I got them, the 17-4 I tried harder to like but never warmed to it.

Hope this helps.

Yates may have been the machining company used but it's a Paradigm Diamondback, not a Yates Diamondback.

Living on the edge
I will put myself I the firing line yet again and say: no points for originality on this design.

Just trying to distinguish between the different Diamondbacks. That's all. Best descriptor i could come up with to distinguish variants.

Main difference is the metal used, Stainless Steel versus the Titanium

Loot, thanks for the review. I have been patiently waiting for someone who's had "hands-on" usage experience with this razor to write one up.
I have been talking to Ross over on IG messanging about this razor and will also purchase one - once it becomes available.
One other thing that Ross said too me was the following "After the first batch, I'll be investing right back into the business to acquire a couple more machines. That will really help with the production process."
