Are these the real Personna 74?

I hope you don't mind if I pile on here, but I used the original Personna 74* when it first came out.  At 70 my memory is not what it once was, but here is my recollection of the chronology (and by the way, welcome to the mysterious world of Personna blades!):
Tungsten Steel Blades (Original P74*)
Tungsten Plus Blades (I believe this was the same blade with hot, new marketing)
Super Platinum Chrome Blades (I believe this was a different blade with Tungsten in the "alloy" - see line six of the paragraph on the back of the Hang Card, not the same as the P74* but still pretty good.  I had heard that P74* marked blades were to be found in some of these packages during the changeover, as on-hand inventory was reduced.  I had also read somewhere that those with the P74* blades were the black plastic dispensers, as opposed to the white dispenser in the above pic).
I have no proper annotations for these comments, just fuzzy memories.

Also, your seller pretty clearly states in his description that these were post-P74* blades.

Thank you Tom. Very helpful information on the Personna 74. :-). I have bought some of the Super Platinum Chrome Blades in the black dispenser before and had the 74 in them. So that why I was wondering if these might also be them as well. I never did notice the white dispenser until I received it. So I guess only the black ones had the 74 and not the white ones.

As the story goes, the heads of state in Personna realized they won the blade war. They created the longest lasting blade known to man with the P74. The only problem is sales went down as users hypermiled their blades (much to the chagrin of Personna). So the decision was made to discontinue them.

What to do with all the remaining stock of P74s? Pack them in the all new Super Chrome Platinum slider pack. AKA, the SPC. That is why the SPC has its own following. Myself being one. I have personally gotten about 40+ shaves out of mine. I had to verify this by marking on the calendar when I started using and then finished it up. If you dont use a calendar, its easy to lose track of how long you have it in your razor.

Word of warning though, most of this is supposition on our part and the end result is they are NOT a true P74 unless you break the wrapper on a new pack yourself. So, DO NOT pay P74 prices on the SPCs. While the chance that they may contain the P74 blades is good, chances are just as good that they are not. Another possibility is that the SPCs are just that good even without the hope that they are P74s.

SPCs are getting as hard to find as the P74s because of this stigma they carry. Use them while you have them.

Also, from the sellers sales pitch, P74s were not the precursor to the "reds". Israeli made Personnas are a present day phenomenon. Hell, they arent even red anymore. If Israel made blades back then, it remains to be proven that they were even under the Personna brand name directly after the discontinuation of the P74s.
