We'll see what happens.

Yikes. I took that to mean it was the new product, non tallow. The one I was referring to is the $8.99 shave stick refill (quoted above).

I had never heard of a reformulation other than the most recent tallow change. Then again, I haven't been interested in Tabac enough to noticed until recently. So, hopefully i'm wrong and it is tallow.

One more time with feeling ...  shave stick refills inbound.

Whew! So they must have seen your order note and helped you switch it? Awesome.

Looking around, not that there's a LOT of sellers out there, but that price seems very competitive for the refill sticks. Free shipping puts it over the edge to an awesome deal, in my book.

Since we're knee deep in a discussion of 'backups', let me ask... How do you keep yours? Honestly, I'm not too worried about Tabac... Its scent probably has a half-life rating and will outlive Man. Lol. Still, it would be good to get some pointers.

I vacuum sealed the pucks and sticks. Do they need to be? Probably not.

The ones that came in the glass Tabac jar are already factory sealed and air tight.

They all live in a plastic bin in my man cave closet.

Ahh. Well, hopefully they catch it. If not, I'm confident they'll help you out (exchange, credit ... Something) and make it right. Dave Dave in KY has had exceptional customer service from them in the past.

Recently I've been going through my collection. I sold several things, tossed some, and in general took a good hard look at what I have and what I really want to keep in my den.

Yesterday I made it down to the travel razors. Some time ago I had bought a cheap AoS De89 clone and relegated it as the travel choice. Well, going through my box of extras I found a Razorock BabySmooth gifted to me by a shaver on another forum. I decided to revisit the razor deemed 'travel razor'.

I shaved with one on each side of the face. Both razors had brand new Personna Comfort Coated blades. After three passes and some cleanup, shockingly enough, the babysmooth was hands down the better razor. Also, after this shave, I realized I paid $12.99 too much for the AoS razor (I paid $13). Lol. Seriously, it's cheap feeling and the head is just not cut right... Very 'pointy' blade guard. Can't describe it any better.

The soap was Los Jabones Something Something (something?). Tobacco scented, I believe. The scent was ok. Neither my favorite nor horrible. It was a bit more than tobacco, and a little weird. The lather, though... WOW. It started brown, went to tan, and finally white. All the while I was worried I had the one soap that actually didn't produce white lather and would probably stain something. That lather diminished somewhat quickly. By the time I hit the 3rd pass, I looked like I had Cremo on my face. Barring all this weirdness, It rocked in performance. Slicker than slick, protective like armor, and my face felt great. So, to sum it up, "An awesome soap with an odd performance and scent".

I closed out with a humongous ice cube, courtesy of a silicone mold I got from Amazon yesterday. It worked great. I may keep this permanently in my routine. Who'd of thunk... Ice!?! I finished with a splash of the new to me Eleven unscented alcohol AS. It's good, for what it is, but won't likely get used much. I think I just prefer the non-alcoholic variants.

Edit to add Overlander compared to D plate

Clint gave a nice summary of how the two felt to him.

Well, the plot thickens.

I came home to my inbox this afternoon to find two emails from Pasteur.  The gist of them is that they are sorry, but the remaining stock of Tabac Shaving Stick Refills was sold at the physical store, and the website inventory was not updated.  One email was an open ticket, and the other was a note from Leandro B, who I have been pleased to deal with in the past.  I wrote a lengthy reply to Leandro, and explained about both orders and about both webpages (the Shaving Stick Refill webpage, which says "WITH TALLOW",  and the Shaving Soap Refill page, which shows the tallow formula).  We'll see what happens.

Akk. That bites Mike. Maybe the soap refill ends up being tallow? I'm definitely interested in hearing what they say.

Thanks Eric. I believe we discussed the D plate in our talks? I knew it was more efficient than the Overlander. Good to see a confirmation (I'm not crazy, lol). Still, can't beat the Overlander for smoothness, especially considering how efficient it still is.

Today's shave was a good one, but I'll be happy to get back to the Overlander Saturday.

Just to clarify, as going back and re-reading my post, I felt like I was a bit degrading to some of the products...

The soap was awesome. The scent isn't exactly my cup of tea, and the lather was surprising in how it 'behaved'. However, none of this was bad at ALL. Just different. The performance was so stellar! We all know the soaps meddle, like razor/blade performance, is still being measured well after the shave. My face felt sooo good, even into the night as I was trying to fall asleep. I can see why this is one of Paul and Mike's favorites (I hope I am remembering that correctly guys). If they had a simpler scent, more in my wheelhouse, I'd have a hard time saying no... Regardless of the higher price.

Just wanted to get that out there.

TGIF folks!
