I have a Calypso R1. Being aluminum the razor is exceptionally light. I found the fit and finish to be on par with other ATT razors. The coloring was darker than pictured. The shave is very similar to the SS R1. I attribute any perceived difference down to the weight. Overall I have been exceptionally pleased with the razor. I do hope that additional ATT razors and plates will be made in aluminum as well.

Thanks for your remarks, clint64 — both here and in your recent shave of the day posts. I've also been wondering about the M1 version. These razors are still so new that it's difficult to come by reviews. EFDan, let us know how you like the new razor once you've used it.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Had my first shave with the M1 Calypso this morning (loaded with a Personna blue in this case), and wow, what a dream! Honestly one of the best off-the-bat shaving experiences I've had. Zero irritation, zero weepers, and very effective whisker-whacking. For context, I have pretty thick whiskers but sensitive skin (I get weepers and irritation easily). I'm finding mild-but-efficient razors to be best for me, and I'll say this one will likely beat the AS-D2 since the angle is even easier to find and the head does better under the nose. The light weight makes it feel nimble, which I really like. It was as easy-going, in many ways, as my OneBlade, but felt more adroit, and again, wins for under-the-nose access. I'm really glad I picked this up!
