I have not shaved with the "Mild" (.001 in blade exposure, which is 1/2 of the "Medium" blade exposure). I purchased two Hensons on my first order to save the shipping costs. An azure "medium" one for me, and a purple "womens" ( "mild") for my spouse. She has been using the Henson exclusively for leg shaving. She says it is better than her old cartridge razors and the Parker Double Edge "long handle" TTO I bought for her. The "mild" Henson is the perfect DE for women, since the blade exposure is nearly zero and the shaving angle is set by the head. She says that it is nearly impossible to cut yourself, which is fantastic!
I have not tried the "mild" version since the "medium" version is already on the mild side for my tastes.
I second the response by AQU above...."...order the Medium for face shaving". I would recommend the "medium" for a first time face shaver.
Just to set the record straight: I am not a paid reviewer for Henson. I do have nearly 50 years of engineering experience (Aero design, etc.) and have a good understanding of machining and physics. IMHO, this razor design is a disruptor to the old standard.
