I would definitely not class it as "clean" though I do consider it a very heavy scent.
Probably cause the splash on is lighter than the aftershave proper. And the cologne.

I love Brut. I've got two big bottles of your Faberge Lotion version in the clear plastic cube, a bottle of Brut 33, and a 26 oz jug of Brut Cologne. Plus some modern stuff. When I first used the vintage Faberge Lotion about a year ago, I hopped in the car with my wife a few hours later. She sniffed and said, "Are you wearing that cologne all the boys wore in high school?" I said, "Yep," and smiled at her. She smiled back. I'm 61 years old.

I 'love' BRUT if only for the fun memories. I would walk to my black barber in Oakland and it was THE scent of the Panthers. I'd mess with them about wanting to smell like Ali while we sat waiting our turn and talking social revolution. Many were 'Nam Vets and I said Charlie must have smelled them coming 2 clicks away. Then that bookdealer in SF explained I was wearing a popular scent in the gay community and the brothers razzed me when I explained it's absence the next visit.

I've been using Brut since I was a wee lad. Just recently had the pinnacle Brut experience in shaving.
For those in the know (BoarderPhreak), how does the modern Brut compare to vintage? As we all know, other popular drug store aftershaves have suffered inferior reformulations and I was wondering if this is the case with Brut. Thanks!
