Another one bites the dust...tallow!

So, looks like another great soap has taken out the tallow.

art of shaving soaps no longer have tallow. Ive checked their website and i cannot see tallow in the ingredients.

The Palm Kernelate is what Haslinger is now using as well. Palm Kernel oil is used to add hardness and bubbly lather from what I read.

Ive just ordered valobra stick, czech and speake 88 soaps and palmolive.....all in fear they all stop using tallow as well.

I think i might just stock up. Lol...

Ive just ordered valobra stick, czech and speake 88 soaps and palmolive.....all in fear they all stop using tallow as well.

I think i might just stock up. Lol...

AoS got rid of tallow a long time ago, as in years if I'm not mistaken. The tallows remain available on Ebay but not from AoS. Fwiw, I have the non-tallow AoS Sandalwood shaving soap and love it. I used to believe tallow was necessary but it's really not, at least not for me. A shave soap can be made to perform as if it has tallow if the artisan knows how to make it that way. Even Will of Barrister and Mann explained that on this very board a long time ago. I realize he still uses tallow, but he did voice his opinion on it. There are indeed a lot of great soaps that contain tallow, many of which are favorites of mine, but I have found just as many non-tallow that perform on par of better in some cases. With that said, I have experienced some soaps that changed their formula for the worse, mostly commercial brands that I tried.

I know what you mean and in some cases I feel the same way. I haven't tried the AoS with tallow version so not sure if I'd like it better or not. I also have not tried C&S, but plan to buy Volobra some day which is the same soap I understand.

We'll never take out the tallow.

AoS reformulated in 2013 IIRC. The AoS tallow soaps were made by Valobra and were indeed world class soaps.

I don't have any allegiance to a specific ingredient including tallow. Many of the best soaps, AdP, ABC, XPEC I Coloniali and so on are non-tallow soaps and very few soaps/creams artisan or commercial can actually match those regardless of their formula. JMO.

I believe this reformulation occurred like 5 years ago with AOS Soaps, when they changed from soap supplier (Valobra to internally made soap by AOS)
