Madness?

I found the Defender a great head shaver and provides a nice quick face shave, especially for travel.

Sure if it’s a traditional experience one strives for than a DE/SE will provide that but the Defender certainly equals the shaves I get from my Blackbird, Karve or Timeless.

Nice razor.

Will it become just another Gillette/Schick wannabe or is it good enough to take those giants on?  How long will it manage to stay on the market?  vtmaxwhen I travel or am in a hurry at home, is the Defender any better than my Gillette Fusion?  In other words, is it so much better that it is worth looking into?  Keep in mind that, unlike you, I only face shave.  Thanks for any input you can give.

dominicr, let's face it, there have always been folks attempting to build a better mousetrap.  Look at the variety of DE and SE razors, going all the way back to vintage.  The same is true in the fountain pen world, wristwatches, and certainly the software of the shaving world.  If we didn't have the madness, we'd only have a single product in each category and no hobbies. Winking  Of course, I do agree that some of the "inventions" folks come up with might have been better left on the drawing board. Tongue

Freddy, the Defender is a far better head shaver. Unlike a lot of head shavers on the forum I don’t shave my head every day or 48 hours. More like once/twice a week now. The Defender blades are spread out making it a great dome razor.

For the face/travel I haven’t found anything better than the Gillette Fusion...but I looked in CVS the other night for the new Gillette SkinGuard. Looks really promising but not on the shelf yet! Soon. Happy2

Nice razor.

I actually have this razor saved in a tab in firefox on my phone...I just keep forgetting to go back and look at it some more. I'm like you, I only shave my head 1-2X/week. Last time I went almost a week without shaving, the only razor that mowed through my hair without taking out the clippers was the gillette guard. This doesn't surprise me and I expected it to do well.

I might need to pick up one of these razors!

Long handle.

I am finding the finger-loop HeadBlade type handles a little gimmicky now. The Fusion traditional/longer handles work a lot better for me.

The daily or 48 hour head shaves were not really necessary I realized (just the hobby) and with a high quality GroomingDept type soap and good prep a Defender/Schick Hydro/Gillette Fusion once/twice a week is perfect.

I actually like the finger loop on the headblade, but idk how I'd like the loop handle of the defender...I still always use a regular cartridge to touch up my sideburns and the back of my neck regardless though.

I picked up one of these razors last night with the regular handle. the razor comes loaded with a regular blade. I also bought a pack of sensitive blades to see which I prefer. we shall see soon enough!
