I enjoyed tonight's shave with GroomingDept Mumtaz. Very well done Mo. I enjoyed the scent, and with all Grooming Dept bases, the performance is always great. Not to mention that cover art!

I owe GroomingDept a few reviews on different soaps, but I’m trying to remain disciplined and have yet to use some as I try to finish a couple others in the den.

But some scents I just could not resist...

Regenwald is one of those scents that keeps you returning to the tub over and over to catch a whiff. Eventually you start dreaming about shaving with it, it’s that good.

The scent notes list tropical fruit, fig, and green notes and it sure is a juicy green scent. I cut into a just-rightly-ripe melon today and was immediately reminded of this scent. There’s a sweetness to it more than anything, but it’s grounded in the soil accord and the wood scents.

I thought I read Mo was playing with the idea of humus, the rich layer of decomposed plants that lays atop the soil in certain areas. This underlying accord is exactly that, but from a tropical area. There’s nothing rank or rotten about it. It really grounds the scent and helps complete the olfactory experience of strolling through a rainforest. I love it.

This soap also performs amazingly. Somehow I find it slicker than the Lavender and Bergamot in the same base.

WHEN (please please please) this scent becomes available again, I’ll certainly stock up.

I am a fan of lavender scents and am considering trying some of the new formulas Mo has put together. Can anyone share a recommendation on scent alone between Lavender (Kairos) and L'Avventura (Kairos) since that also has lavender in it too? I like lavender alone as well as in a mix of scents. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks DFS

I would get both. The lavender smells like a pure lavender even though there are other scent notes. Reminds me of ethos lavender.

Laventura has great reviews but I haven’t personally smelled it.

I was very much impressed with scent of Ethos Lavender and I still enjoy the Mike's Hungarian Lavender so that is what I was hoping to hear. KeholeAny comment on how much the base scent is prevalent?

To me kairos is pretty much scentless in its unscented form from what I remember testing.

La Avventura is spectacular. Easily my all time favorite scent in wet shavedom. Green and bitter. It is wunnerful.

Get both! I have both, but have not yet used them (trying to be disciplined and finish off a different puck). The scents on both are amazing, the lavender smells exactly like the ones growing in my garden. It’s dead on.

And L’avventura has such a green, but refreshing and clean scent. I can’t wait to dig into it... but I must remain disciplined!  Big Grin

I agree with most, L'Aventura is quite amazing. I love it. There is nothing not to like about it IMHO but again scent is personal. GD Lavender is a lovely pure Lavender which does not disappoint in any way. Only other Lavender I would say compares is Ethos or Castle Forbes.
