At the risk of sounding like “Dudley Downer,” I’ll briefly use this as an opportunity to express gratitude, and empathy for others less fortunate....

The boundary between “alive” and “not alive” is far from clear when describing at a macro level collective human action. When viewed from above using time-lapse photography, rush hour traffic patterns around metropolitan centers resemble a beating human heart. Whether animate or inanimate, the interplay of yin and yang is never-ending, so all things ebb and flow over time.  For many suffering people, this most recent (and tragically still-ongoing) pandemic has been a real challenge, and for far too many it has been a heart-breaking, and spirit-breaking challenge.  Yet many have experienced and displayed courage, fortitude, and selflessness they had never before known or even imagined themselves capable of.  Such is life.  Overall, there has likely been less time, energy, and desire for participating in the shaving forums.  We here now are a fortunate subset. For me, the forums have been welcome respite.  But truly everything oscillates, even shaving forums at some level and rate, always.  The forums are still viable!

I was very active in the shaving side of the various sites, but after having written the same things a thousand times, I realized that those folks I helped in years past are now helping others so I backed off and let them take over.

Too other sites have instituted Facebook type censorship. Who needs that? TSN was the latest so I flushed it. I don't know if that's what's responsible for their lack of participation but it was for me.

You can't judge based on TSN. IMO, it's a dying forum, as are many vendor-owned forums. I spend most of my time here on DFS, but I know the Facebook groups have exploded in popularity the past few years. It's the only thing the younger guys use Facebook for these days.

I don't frequent other forums and I don't do any social media so I don't really know what's going on over there, however, a more recent development here on DFS has been member's personal journal threads.  When they first popped up only last year I think  - Dave in KY  was first I think - the Mod team virtual huddled to consider the pros and cons of personal journal threads.  We were all in agreement that we didn't see any harm and that we'd let it run and see how it works out.  I think its working out just fine.  It allows members to post things that are interesting to others that might not necessarily fit in anywhere else.  SOTD thread is good but people are reluctant to get into any in depth discussion of the day's setup.  You can do that on your personal journal though  Happy2
