New razors Homelike

I have been waiting for this razor to be released since before the Pandemic! Hope this one gets out soon because I have been salivating over it since the first prototypes were posted on IG. Please let this one be on the way shortly. I reach out to them periodically to see where they are with it and nothing recently. Hope the video being released means it should be coming soon!

Haven't read all posts so maybe someone has mentioned it.

This B&R (Barbaros & Rocnel) adjustable seems to be the one that kicked off
the line that has now culminated in the Sailor.

https://damnfineshave.com/thread-barbaro...t=barbaros

Quite funny to see the reviewer wince at the introductory price of $250. Smile

Not being a native Russian speaker I used English subtitles for the video and google translated few of the comments. If anyone speaks Russian please correct my takeaways because a lot of it is a good guess. My observations and takeaways from the translated video/comments are:

-Big improvement from the last shave video. Head seems to have slimmed down considerably and he didnt butcher his face this time.
-This will be more expensive than the taiga. Price will be set after production.
-the beginning of the video he seems to make some comments about production but translate is wonky. I believe he mentions the razor used here will be the one going into production after a lot of testing.
-Towards the end of the video he seems to mention it’s very aggressive and makes several comparisons to the R41 and Blackbird noting that people use those razors in spite of how aggressive they are.

Re: Taiga etc—are sales from that part of the world on again?
That would be cool.

So excited for this one! Love that it will be aggressive! Spent way too much on the Rhodium plated Konsul because I had no idea if this one would ever make it in to production. That one will be traded or sold soon. Too mild for me. I have the original Taiga and the titanium Taiga as well as every single Rocnel adjustable through 2021 and love all of those. Sold my original Rex too.

Me too. I was one of Matt's testers and there was a configuration that was more aggressive. If he had released that version I would have jumped on it, but he was purposefully trying to release something for the people who find the Ambassador too harsh. I'll be keeping my eye on the developments of the Homelike version. Or maybe I can just get Matt to sell me his more aggressive Prototype combo...

A quick plug for this awesome razor, the Taiga from HomelikeShaving. With its inspired design from the Gibbs Reglable there are similarities but, this razor goes down its own path. From very mild to extreme gap and feel, it is quite remarkable on how it still stays relatively smooth in the upper ranges including when it’s “overclocked” for lack of a better term or definition. A simple yet wonderful creation in its simplicity, design and implementation. Superbly crafted and machined to deliver easy daily shaves for the everyday user as well as the shaver that prefers shaving 2-3 times a week. And if you happen to be in the wilderness in pure survival mode for weeks at a time, once back in civilization this razor will take on a couple weeks of growth without blinking an eye. One of the best performing razors made in the last decade regardless of country of origin.

Great shaves to all….

“Over clocked” should be the term when dial goes beyond the labeled number. Great one Gus
