Gents, request inputs on my next SE Razor which acceps AC blades. I had bought and sold Cobra Classic in the past, too aggressive. Am using Colonial General in brass which I am liking very much but the razor is a tad heavier.

I recently borrowed ATT SE1 with bamboo handle from a friend and had my first shave with it today.I honestly enjoyed the shave very much. I went with Schick Proline blades.

I am now looking forward to a lighter razor in comparison to the brass General I own.

I need inputs on ATT SE1 vs ATT SE2 vs Colonial SS. Whats the difference between the 2 ATT models? How much does each weigh, if anyone who owns both may share.

I also understand there is a substantial price difference between the 2 brands mentioned above. Which one would you still pick?

Thanks in advance.

Did you consider the Razorock Hawk V2 in aluminium ? It's 20$ and good head geometry. It's not aggressive and gives good shaves. Can't go wrong at that price point.

I have that in mind too but some find it too mild. I am in favor of mid aggressive types and am not too sure.

At present I m looking for a SS Razor.

Thanks.

Fortunately, a good shave buddy had a Hawk and let me try it with a sampler of the four best type blades. Aside from the fact that I felt that I was shaving with a windshield wiper, the format simply didn't work for me. I blame the blades as the Japanese have not mastered the blade coating process like Gillette IMO. None of the four imparted any smoothness to my mug. Classic case of YMMV.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I have the hawk v1 SS and while being mild the alone combo with the ac blades that all are in general super sharp i always end up 12-15 bbs shaves and 5 dfs per blade. Just ordered the feathers super pro blades because people say they are the uber sharp ones and should go very good with the hawk mild nature

I tend to agree with the statement about the blades. I have tried the aluminum General, Hawk v2 and CJB Kamisori (eliminates any variable of head geometry) and every AC blade I tried was pretty terrible for me. Feather Pros, Super Pros, Guards, Kai Milds, Kai Originals, Kamisoris and Schick P-30s. The only ones that were semi-passable were the Schicks. All of the others were super tuggy and seemed really dull to me. Definitely YMMV... I really wanted to like the Hawk but it just wasn't meant to be I guess.

I'm in the too mild for me camp. I just sold my Hawk V2 razor. The General SS fits the bill perfectly for me. I've only shaved with the Feather Supers so far and it gets plenty close with very little irritation.

I second the nomination for the Hawk in Stainless Steel. I have the DLC and Satin, both are great. It puts the General to shame and the weight / balance hits the sweet spot. I prefer the Proline blades, Kai pinks as a second choice, but this things works well with whatever blade you put in it. Guard blades are great if you want a quick shave with no risk of nicks or irritation.

Agree on the hawk V2 . I have an ATT Se1 and SE2 head in the mail as I hear it has blade feel compared to the Hawk V2. I have been deliberating over the colonial general but with so many threads and YMMV responses - I am on the fence if it's any more aggressive than the aluminium hawk V2.

I am hoping to get that answer too in this thread.
