Was raised in one of the premiere wrestling regions of the nation - a state where being state champ meant a reasonable possibility of becoming an Olympian. Remember well the wrestlers walking about and attending classes with a spitting cup, plastic sweat suit and inducing emesis throughout the day. Weigh in was a huge deal and once certified for the match, the participants would gorge on food.
Even wrestled for a few years just for the suffering - practices were brutal in hot rooms maintained as at high a temperature as the poor HVAC could throw out. After a season of wrestling, football 3 a days were actually a relief.
The matches were a holiday in comparison to the practices. Serious martial arts have no peer remotely close regarding the discipline and ability to withstand suffering they instill. Further, there can be nothing so distorting time as 3 nonstop minutes engaged in all out martial combat.
My God do I miss my hometown and the wonderful people known in youth

Thanks for sharing! It's always great to see fighters sharing their strategies and techniques to stay in shape and perform at their best. Cutting weight can be difficult and sometimes dangerous, so any tips and tricks to make it easier and safer are much appreciated. I love practicing with my beginner boxing gloves, but I still need to start watching my eating. Thanks again for sharing!
