I would have chosen Declaration Grooming knot if I had been the original owner. I'm not knowledged when it comes to brush knot. but Declaration Grooming knot seems more luxurious to me.
I have one Declaration. Very first batch. I like it and wouldn’t get rid of it, but I much prefer Shavemac. In terms of a softer hair 2-band Silvertip is softer, and while I don’t have a wide sampling of the various Declaration batches, most of them would tend to be softer with gel tips. I consider 2-band D01 quite luxurious, but then I have a preference for the natural tip feeling of badger.
Rooney set off a chain event with their 2-band Heritage grade. That’s always been my gold standard for the processed tips. I will say the closest I’ve found to Rooney 2-band Heritage is B1 Declaration. It’s different enough to be considered on its own, and if you like the processed badger better, it would likely very much be up your alley. Thater gas a bit of gel as well as 2-band Silvertip from Shavemac, but I only have 1 of each I kept. Even the 2-band Silvertip I only have one brush that I like. I tried countless ready set knots and found them not for me. Others enjoy and love them and that’s cool and respect that. Use what you enjoy, it would be silly not to! I do like them as well, but too often it is overdone for my tastes, and as a result don’t have as many of those, but I enjoy what I do have. I hope you’ll love your brush for years to come!
