Dave in KY . You have some sound thinking on the 2023 restraint. (ie: I think you'll do well!)
As I watched I started thinking, that might be a good razor for me. That's the kind of thinking I've been avoiding like the plague. It undoubtedly leads to shopping. However, if I keep reminding myself where I'm at, and why I started, it becomes easier. That said, I figure I'd share my thoughts, in case this mindset is helpful to others:
I shave every other day. Half the time most of you folks do. A bad shave is two bad days of reflection. A good shave is the opposite. Thus, 'sticking with what I know works' has twice the reward others might get.
I originally shaved every week or so (7-10 days, maybe?). I dreaded the pain, bleeding, redness, etc.. I came to traditional shaving to try to make it less of a chore. I accomplished that in spades. I actually look forward to the shave, the soap scent, etc. I don't think I can accomplish a goal greater than this?
I have almost 2 dozen soaps I like, providing quality shaves and scent variety. This keeps it interesting and 'new' from shave to shave. I can always add more... But when I need them, not on a whim. Look at the BST... we typically don't like almost as many as we love. Besides, I'll appreciate a new soap if it doesn't come every week or month.
I have a razor and blades that work for me getting the job done without issue or drama. I'm simply not going to accomplish more by buying a new razor. The Overlander / Personna does the job well. Mission accomplished.
In the end, for me, I've decided it's ok to accept that I won... I accomplished what I wanted, and can now just enjoy it. Hopefully this helps someone else. If not, it at least helped me. :-)
