Have a great day!

PS:
The calibration on mine is just a bit off with a Feather but you can see in the picture that the thickness of the GSB keeps it further from the • at the lowest setting.

You can calibrate the Sailor yourself.

1) Remove the cap and blade.
2) Squeeze the baseplate against the bottom as if it is fully tightened down (springs fully compressed).
3) Turn the dial so the dot is just to the right of the post.
4) Release the baseplate and reassemble with your blade.

If you did step 3 correctly, the dot should now align with the post at the zero setting.   Step 3 takes some trial and error to get just right.

Cool! Thanks for sharing that tip. It helps with my OCD.

Edit: Tried it several times. I must be doing something wrong because it made no change.

Out of curiosity I used a Kai blade for last nights shave and this morning shave. To my surprise it worked really well, got two very pleasant shaves (yesterday evening setting 5 and  today setting 6). Not aggressive at all (for me that is).

Not to be seen as a negative comment, we all have or way of doing things but the difference in shaving ritual compared to the video's: I only work in the lather for a minute at the most (I know .... but this gives me better results then longer), angle is about the same but main difference is that within a pass I never ever go twice over the same spot (in the video I noticed that within one pass some areas where shaved like up to ten times in the same spot, again we all have or preferences but for me that would mean irritation no matter what razor or blade.)

Did a comparison between the 2020 and 2021 this morning, still prefer the 2020 but they are close. Have a nice shave!

Great looking collections, men.

I think John might have a bad Kai.

Agreed on the variations of approach. I'm like you, I remove lather once and move on....going over and over the same patch of skin just doesn't suit my style, even if the direction is a little different. I've often thought, Wait...is that 1 pass or 5? What works for you may not work for me though. We all have to find the technique that works for us. I am unconventional by any definition, for sure.

No change?  Did you try a different "zero" point each time?  Possibly the zero point you picked is the same one your razor shipped with?   Also, is it possible in step 2 that both sides of the adjustment plate were not fully compressed?   I place my index and middle fingers on the bottom plate on either side of the handle while squeezing the adjustment plate down evenly with my thumb. Both plates must be fully seated.

You might also try holding the razor at different angles.  I think when I did it I had the base of the handle pointed down.

Yeah, I tried several different zero points. I even tried way off where I thought it should be and no change. Baseplate up holding it down with my fingers and baseplate down pushing the razor against a towel on the vanity.

I'm trying to picture what's going on inside that this would change the point of thread engagement. I just don't see it.

Living on the edge
I remember recalibrating my fatboy, using some tip picked up on a forum and it used to work great.

Rocnel should include a set of instructions on how to trouble-shoot these issues, or at least have
a spokesman post about them.

More an observation than an issue for me. If there was a way to recalibrate I doubt I would do it everytime I put a different brand blade in. Well, maybe I would.
