Now, my modern adjustable collection is limited to the Sailor Series from Rocnel. As my Gillette interest waned in 2017, the Sailor was released, just in time! I've taken to collecting them now. Recently, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the 2021 #3 Prototype. I've gotten only 2 shaves in with it, but initial reaction is quite positive. If the 2020 is an adjustable WR2, the the 2021 is an adjustable WR1.

2021 has increased blade feel in the low gaps that is linear and consistent through the range. It's not quite as smooth in the upper gaps as the 2020, but its no 2019 on the face either.

The 2021 is well made. Well balanced. Still quite handsome like the 2020, and operates smoothly, just like I expected.

Even slimmed down by 40g or so from 2020, the 2021 still feels substantial. A lot of that loss in weight was in the length of the handle. The 2021 is back to the 2017 75mm length.

New for 2021 is a matching stand. The stand has a peg for the hole in the base of the handle. The base is hefty and the connection is tight enough to prevent accidental tipping.

The packaging is the best I've ever seen. The 2020 blue wooden boxes have been outdone by the 2021. The box makes you feel like you are holding something special. Smaller than the 2020 and more elegant. The straps to hold the razor in place are a much welcomed addition.

Setting II. Broken record report. Steep or shallow still just as smooth as the lower settings. Love it!

Have a great day!

Lovely photo. Shave report is indeed a broken record. Smile

I think tomorrow when you get to 3...and the Wed #4 shave...you will have more to say. Between 2.5 to 4.5 is where this thing really shines, for me.

Ok a quick update. This mornings shave on 3 1/2 days growth I decided to see if the Sailor could do what no other razor in my den has been able to do except my Ikon Tech and that’s give me a rock solid BBS on a WTG pass going right into a reverse WTG pass without re - lathering using only the residual slickness of the soap. I just picked the number 7 setting figuring if it doesn’t get me there I still have a ways to go on the higher settings. Well setting 7 was surely a lucky 7 for me because not only did the Sailor match the Icon but did it with more effectiveness and it was noticeably smoother than the Tech. Also to add to the trump card, I wasn’t as aggressive with my skin stretching as I did when I achieved it with the Tech.

Going into this I also didn’t feel on setting 7 it was going to be a skin remover like the one that was used in the movie Red Sparrow and in fact now it’s making me want to push the envelope and see what the even higher settings are like just for the heck of it.

Also another plus for the Sailor. I used a new Polsilver blade instead of a Feather like I used in the Ikon Tech. So there is a new king of efficiency/effectiveness in my Den. An I’ll add the more I use this razor the more I’m really liking it a lot! Don’t even want to think about what a Ti version would shave like.

BTW No wiggle noise whatsoever in this shave. It’s been 8 1/2 hrs since I shaved and my face still feels like I just finished the shave a few minutes ago.

Shaved this afternoon on setting 5 and this thing is absolutely ridiculous! Excellent shave with a Personna Tungsten 74 vintage blade. I am just speechless with this one! I just don’t know how much better this thing can get. I keep saying Murat is an engineering genius and I really mean that! I keep wanting to hate this short handle but the more I use it, the more I get used to it and the shave is just on a completely different level!! Very close to the 2020 but just….better!
